Default Safe to drill in this part of footwell?

I'm planning to install a small fire extinguisher with a bracket just in front of the passenger seat, in the trough shown here:

On the under-side, it looks like this:

Looks like it's straight through, except for that raised ridge in the middle. I'll try to avoid it, but just in case, is that just to strengthen the metal, or is it some kind of conduit? Assuming the former, but good to check! Also FWIW I know it's a good idea to make a hole in the carpet first before drilling, so the drill bit doesn't catch the carpet. Thanks!

Passenger side is easy. Driver side is gas lines. You're good.

That looks amazing. I can't find a UL rating though. The one I ended up buying was the First Alert AUTO5, as it had the highest rating (5BC) of any extinguisher that fit in that space (because it's a bit shorter and fatter than most). The Element says it's rated for ABCK fires, but it doesn't give a rating number, just a discharge time. Ah, here we go, from the FAQ:

> Originating in Italy, Element has been certified in Europe by CE and TUV (in addition to other international certifications). Currently within North America, Underwriters Laboratories (UL) does not yet have a testing standard written from which to certify Element. For this reason Element cannot be used to substitute extinguishers in regulated environments that require a UL (or UL endorsed) certification. Element however can freely be used as a supplemental extinguisher in these environments and as a primary extinguisher where there is no regulation (car, home, personal garage, etc.)

I've got 2 E50's coming for my S2000's. I would email Element @ info@ElementFire.com if you have any questions about their products, the owner is knowledgeable and replies back pretty quickly.

My only concern with the Element is a under hood fire flares up and out fast when the hood is opened and from the videos I've seen you have to be able to get close to a fire with the Element . Heat rises and I don't know if you could get the smoke(don't know what else to call it) from the Element to the heat source(base of fire) before the heat takes the smoke up, up and away.

I've been looking into it; that video is just bad, but based on how the Element works (using a gas to smother the fire) it should actually be great for engine fires. The right way to do it would be to pull the hood latch but not release the safety catch, so it only opens an inch or so. Then direct the element through that gap into the engine compartment. In the enclosed space it should quickly control the fire. Then you'd carefully and slowly open the hood to check and take out any remaining fire. I'm going to order one.
