Default Safe way to Check Engine Light

Hello everyone,

I am writing an OBDII software tool for the PocketPC . I want to test my Diagnostic Trouble Code reader with the real thing. What is the safest way to generate a check engine light illumination on the S2k? Removing the gas cap does not work. I know removing some of the vacuum hoses will do it but I want the "safest" way possible. Also please post your past experiences with the Check Engine Light, problems and solutions. If you happen to know the trouble code, please include .

Thanks,
smanders

If you look on the front driver side of the cylinder head cover, slightly infront of the fuel rail is a sensor. If you disconnect it, the engine won't rev over 3k, and after two starts, it will generate a check engine light (don't ask me how I know this ). I don't know what code it throws though.
