Default Scratched Cylinder wall

Swapping engines. Mine has a spin bearing and this one I just found out has a scratch deep enough to reflect light from my bore scope. My engine has 120k. Swap Motor only 16k.(had a burnt up coil pack). Only found a couple small bits of metal in the cat so that's probably what did it. It's only scraped 3/4 way down in one spot. Cylinder is good otherwise.

Do I just put it in and see how it does?(most likely senario)

It's on an engine stand now. Prob can't compression test as its cold and no oil.

Worst case I guess is that I pull it back out and send it off to get re-worked. What's the average price for getting sleeved?

Honda states that scoring is okay as long as it doesn't catch your fingernail AND run all the way down the cylinder. It has to meet both those requirements in order for it to necessitate attention.

I am only looking in via a Bore Scope so I can't do the finger nail catch. It's NOT all the way to the bottom which is good I guess. It's so very defined too it's like a razor blade line it's just that precise.

Harry: Do they drop in a new sleeve or just hone it out a little? I guess going Honda stuff is probably best. Though not sure if I would say screw it and just drop in iron sleeves and run some aftermarket slightly oversized pistons. This way when I can finally go FI with it I will have no worries. I will do it some day damnit!

I think I am pretty set on just dropping it in and seeing how it goes. I will probably keep doing compression tests, scoping and sending out the oil for inspection after 500 miles of initial run in. See if anything is of concern.

OMG my 120K engine holy scoring batman. Must have gotten starved of oil on the #4 cylinder or spun a bearing throwing off the piston because the walls look like a monkey scrubbed them with poop! At least 3 areas that have top to bottom at least inch wide scrapes.

You'll be good I can pretty much guarantee. Like I said, you have to meet both of those requirements to even "worry". When I did my rebuild in February of this year, my #2 cylinder had a few lines in it, but none of them ran the full length of the cylinder and only one, just barely could catch a fingernail, but only in one small area of it. I left it be and installed new rings, etc. Did a compression test after 500 miles of driving on it and I'm RIGHT at 239-240 PSI average per cylinder. Couldn't be happier.
