I just would like to say thank you to ronald first of all for bringing this to our attention. Secondly, i would liek to thank all of you that have been following and documenting and keeping track of everyones issues and problems. I believe that is going to be a major point in our favor.

I also believe that Honda will not leave us in the dark on this issue. I truly believe that they will remedy the problem with whatever it takes to save their name. The S2000 was created as a symbol of what Honda has accomplished through all its years of building automobiles and motorcycles. This is car, IMO, is their flagship, and the last thing they want is people turning away from the company because of it.

Thanks to this board and its members, i have confidence that they will do the right thing. Even if it means recalling every S2k.

BTW... i was wondering about the number of cars you guys have been mentioning are here in the states? I was under the impressions that the first two years they only sold 5,000 cars a year and just this year they increased the number to 8,000. How did you guys come up with 45,000 cars in the U.S alone?

If you look at the date on the letter, It hasn't yet been a week since Honda issued the bulletin. I think we should give them a little time before starting a letter writing campaign or class action. AHM has a bigger issue than other countries because they require a lot greater parts availability. I bet there are more S2000s in Cali then in the entire NL.

Recalls do not have anything to do with the warranty period. The car can be way out of warranty and the recall will still apply. Another option Honda could use is to extend the warranty in lieu of the recall. (Ford did this on a cam chain on 4.0 SOHC Explorers and warrented it to 100,000 miles) I hope Honda will do a recall rather than an extended warranty.

Recently in Cali Ford was forced by the court to recall lots of older cars for an ignition problem that caused stalling. Since the #4 cyl failure causes stalling, it could be considered a safety issue.

how about just a friendly reminder that these problems have been documented here in the US? it would definitely be good for them to know we exist (s2ki.com) and that we're a unified voice throughout the world. as long as we keep it friendly and diplomatic, just showing our concern, i'm sure things will be great. also, this will help our cause in the future if we ever need to be "heard". my 2cents.

Can anyone confirm that these problems have been fixed in a MY2002?

If this is truly a problem on all the cars, then Honda needs to really send this info out to the US buyers as well. I thought the #4 cylinder failure only affected a certain batch of cars.

Let's not forget that (at least in the case of the sparkplug problem and probably for both) we documented these problems for them. And us telling members to check sparkplugs probably saved AHM a ton of warranty work.

I have the same impression based on what's been reported here when there was a batch of failures. The improvement is apparently too allow for better lubrication and cooling and there may or may not be a correlation. Its clear no one on the board knows the details. Now, I'd say the spark plug improvement is clearly related to problems reported here.
