Crap guys im freaking out now too, i was just heading home tired as hell and i was going 75mph when i did the money shift down to 2nd. I felt the car slightly lunge forward and never fully released the clutch and popped it back into neutral . The rpms went all the way up to the high 7k's but i never saw the red light pass 8k pop up.

My question is, if i really went over redline during the brief time in 2nd would the tach be lighting up red, like when you hit the rev limiter in gear? Or am i ok since i never saw the red light at 8k pop up? I did a search but couldnt find anything.

Sorry to thread jack, but i didnt feel like opening up another money shift thread.

One problem his car is an 04 8200 rpm rev limit
yes, but while his piston speed will be higher, his valve train still is the same so it shouldn't float at that speed. Now, I will not say it is ok because no one knows exactly how fast he was going or high high the revs went, but i would agree that a short stent on an F22 at 9200 rpms isn't going to hurt anything.

If you went past the redline the red bars at the high end of the tach would definitely have lit up.
You are fine..

Yeah, I was afraid of this stuff too. I did the money shift when the car was fairly new...about 5k miles. I was doing some spirited driving against an EF hatch with a B18C turbo who I just wouldn't go away.

I mishifted at about 70mph from 6th to 2nd...full disengaged the clutch for a split second, locked up the rear wheels (Manifested by the tires screeching), and engaged the clutch again...I don't know where the revs were but I saw the the limiter flash for just a split second. I'm sitting at 25k miles right now and the car doesn't seem to give me any problems.

by how everything sounds, I think his engine sounds fine. Honda Mechanics theorize a F20c engine can handle up to 11,000 RPMs ( NOt daily driving though).

I agree with Guardiase also, it should be ok.
