Default To Shifter Experts

So I am installing a knob that does not requite a locknut and had accidentally dropped some loctite onto the hole in the top of the shifter shaft. You will see the hole if you remove the shift knob at the top of the shifter shaft where you thread the knob. I also noticed some kind of wire inside of this hole, what is that for? Did I cause damage to the shifter?

Thanks for any help.

I have no idea what you mean and would say that if you can change gears it works just fine.
