Default Shifting through gears with car off?

The other day I found my younger brother shifting through all the gears while the car was off. Of course I got real upset and starting yelling at him.

But, is this damaging to the car or anything?

No as long as he was shifting properly.

He was just rowing through the gears 1-6... well he drives a stick himself. I was just worried something could be damaged while rowing the gears with the car off.

Me <- typical over paranoid owner

Sometimes if I'm bored sitting in my car waiting for someone and the car is off, I row through the gears a few times just to enjoy the feel

I don't THINK it hurts anything...
