As i mentioned i mean no offence and apologies for hijacking your thread.I have just never seen a car with a those things on the front and was somewhat shocked that they would be used on something as pretty as the S...But hey ho each to their own.

Foe what its worth i used to have a Ford sierra cosworth running 400bhp that had silicone hoses on.Apparently they flex better allowing better water/airflow to the engine components and last longer too.They were bright green though so may not be to everybodys taste.

 

Some silicone lines are good but they were bad for my integra so i dont put them on the S . They callapse due to HIGH HEAT FROM MY TURBO!

They don't melt If they get a knick they will just continue to tearat that spot. They handle heat better and have no other advantage other that. If you have incredible high under hood temps then they will are your best adavnatage when you have a bunch of dried out rubber hoses. I know this because there is about 30+ feet underneath the intake of a 93-95 Rx7.

 

Silicone hoses will handle the typical under-hood heat better and will last longer than stock rubber hoses. If you have a location where there will be high vacuum, make sure you get the hoses with fibers in the walls, particularly for the larger sized hoses. I've been running silicone under my hood for 4+ years now without issue, and a little bit of windoex is all I've ever needed to get grease off of them.
