I had some ticking and a rough idle a while back. Felt like an idiot when I checked the oil and noticed it was way low! I keep watch over my oil now. The idle steadied alot and the ticking stopped.

Somewhat off topic though: sometimes when I come to a stop the revs will drop way low ~500 RPM, and the car will shake then steady. It happens randomly, anyway to fix this?

The key words you used are: "sometimes" and "randomly".
The ECU is most likely having a brain fart. Certain conditions (both environmental and mechanical) can cause this. It should learn after a couple of episodes. If it actually stalls, then you need to give it more attention. As it is, there is really nothing to fix unless you want to go to great lengths and expense to do it.
