intermitent ticking at idle? Any ideas?
2003 ap1 54,000 stock except for cai. I have a louder than normal, intermittent ticking, at idle only after the engine warms up. It sounds like its coming from the top front area of the engine. As soon as I come off idle it goes away. The engine starts and runs fine. Again its intermittent. Its there, then it gets just a little louder than normal and stays that way for several seconds then gets quieter until normal again. Only at idle. It never really gets loud and doesn't do it when cold.
I'm guessing valve adjustment would not be intermittent and would get quieter as the engine warms up, right? How about the fuel injectors? Can they tick at idle intermittently? Does this engine have lost motion assemblies?
Would appreciate your help.

Timing chain tensioner
supposedly tct noise
How about a fuel injector? How would you test to see?
What about lma's. Does the f20 have them? They keep the vtec rocker arm on the lobe at low rpm's when vtec is not engaged. I hear they can allow ticking if they wear out? Don't know if it can be intermittent or not. Don't even know if the f20 has them?!?!?
