Default Snapped vtec pressure switch off

Hi chaps, i serviced the car today.

Whilst finishing up tightening the oil filter i slipped and snapped the vtec oil pressure switch item off.
I managed to glue it back on, and so far it has stayed put. Car has no CEL's and engages in vtec fine.

JDM's S2000's dont have this, i have been told if it does come into use my engine is broke anyways due to oil pressure.

I fear it might come off even though it is securely in place, Can i replace just this item?, or do i have the replace the whole unit?

Circled in yellow. - see the Hex at the end?

Thanks in advance

AJ

I did the same thing You are just talking about the connector right?

I snapped the connector off (really just most of the housing) and bend the pins. I straightened out the pins and zip tied the sensor back on until I got a replacement.

Like Jzz30 said, you can get the sensor, but I found the whole vtec solonoid assembly cheaper than that in the marketplace - id search around there if your car runs fine now.

Old plastic will get brittle and snap off like this.

Just get a new sensor from an online OEM dealer. Should be cheap.

It's hard to prevent this from happening but you can try to keep plastics and rubber wet/conditioned with various liquid products.

I broke the connector housing off and wrapped in electrical tape. Can you buy the connector by itself? I thought it was hard wired to the harness....
