Default soft top wont go back up

so the other day i took my hard top off and i noticed my soft top wont go back up. when i push the soft top switch nothing happens. yes the ebrake was up and i checked if the switch was plugged in. so i put the hardtop back on and i noticed that the defroster doesnt work anymore. do you think it is related? anyone have any info? thanks

edit: i also did a search before posting and found out about the switch on the driver side catcher and that does not seem to be the problem.
