You wouldn't believe some of the shit people do to get free stuff. My family owned a restaurant and people would come in, order and eat, and claim they weren't satisfied with their meal and would ask for 100% compensation!

Thread HJ! Sorry...won't do it again.

Seriously, though...you may want to consider a hardtop. For what you're going to be paying for your new soft top you could have one and you'd never have this problem again.

I did mine last spring and got the top for if i remember corrctly 850. I got the canvas top with rear glass with defroster. I got the conversion (defroster wiring) kit from hardtopguy for 145 and the labor was 500 bucks and I deff don't regret it. Its nice to turn on the rear defroster and and watch the ice melt away

huh? So you would rather pay for the damage done despite the possibility of it being covered under warranty?

I would have done the same as him, and just be really careful in the future when putting the top down.....

If it's my fault, then most certainly I expect to pay for it. GFL undercharged me for my rollbar- I notified them of the mistake. I won't make any assumptions about you... don't have to. Besides, how can i expect my children to be honest if their father isn't? It's called leading by example.

Honda Dealership in upstate NY
here's my experience...i took my car in to have the top replaced due to a tear caused by a bar joint that had a sharp edge. it was there for a week because they have never done a top replacement before. i heard from the service guy he took about 20 hours to take it apart and put it together. i was fine with it since i wanted them to get it done right. when i got it back the rollbar cover was split in half . i brought it home and a week later they replaced the rollbar cover. me, paying close attention to detail realized that the cover they replaced it with was cracked. so then i brought the car home again while they waited for another cover to come in. In the meantime, my top suddenly just wouldn't go down all the way. i brought it back in and i brought it to their attention. they replaced the rollbar cover and then tucked one of the center bars under a cloth piece. got back in to pick up the car and turns out the problem is still not fixed. i just recently brought it back in to get it fixed and told them to keep the car until it was right. they're giving me a free oil change, detailing for the 3rd time, and i get to drive a rental kia spectra for god knows how long until my S is back

to make a long story short...it's taking a hell of a long time for them to get the top back to the way it was...i brought the car back for a 4th time with a possibility they're going to damage the rollbar covering again. good thing is i'm not paying a cent because it's a warranty claim, but it really sucks that i've been back and forth. look for a place that have dealt with top replacements

If it's their first top, it can easily take 12+ hours. I'd say 7-9 hrs for someone who's done it before. I've got it down to 6, but I've done a few.
