spark plugs were lean and had oil
i have an 01 and i bought it with 10k miles on it. i changed my spark plugs today, for the first time (30K) miles. the first thing i noticed was how chalky they were. all i have done to my car is a spugen exhaust. does that make me run that much leaner? and the second thing i noticed was oil residue on the threads of the spark plugs. the one closest to the driver, had a good amount of oil. ONLY on the threads though. is this common? what could be the problem? thank you for any help you can give me.
It shouldn't make the car run leaner. Honda plugs normally look grayish- that is normal. The car runs relatively lean at part throttle- you will only see a dark plug if you spend a lot of time WOT.
Oil on the threads usually means your valve cover gasket (the donuts) is leaking.

your exhaust system shouldn't have anything to do with your air/fuel ratio. this system comes into play after combustion has already taken place. the only regular bolton that can affect your air/fuel ratio is an aftermarket intake. since its now offering a higher velcoity of air, the car will run leaner(more air than fuel).
