Don't even mess with the ball joint.
Remove the entire steering knuckle and have a machine shop swap the hubs for you.
Should be relatively cheap

this time i need to swap my cv joints. i really want to do this ball joint thing on my own...

well here is the generic version of the ball joint remover that honda charges freaking $150 for

i'm on hold right now hopefully the local Napa has it, otherwise i'm going to punch a hole through my freaking bedroom door.

i figure we could just use a wider ratchet...wouldn't it be easier to rent/buy a wide ratchet and proceed with that method?

Yeah, sometimes they do that. I oftentimes take my old part, and go there, point to it and say: "This". Then car info. It's the best method to get across the language barrier.

Oh, and don't you dare to call them a junkyard. Too belittling, condescending. They're "autodismantlers", "autorecyclers".

hehe well i found them on car-part.com and communicating with them through phone and email have been very tough to say the least. i'm not expecting to have the s2000 up and running for another 2 weeks...

i do have a quicker but more expensive option right now:

swap the studs from the wrong side hub onto the hub i just took off. problem is i dont have the tool to take apart the hub to take apart the studs...sears auto dpt. will swap the studs for me for $102 they said

time vs. $$$...

thanks for the offer...but i have discovered that my ball joint boot cover is ripped.

i don't understand the service manual instructions, so i'm just going to have a shop replace the ball joint boot cover and since they're doing that, they'll have the ball joints removed, so i'll have them swap my cv joints for me as well.

i went to napa in el monte and they didn't have it, only other napa was in van nuys.
