The dudes name is Jim Knapp. He went 258 mph. If you are interested, do a user search (Jimknapp) and read his posts. You will learn the classifications, and stuff about Bonneville.

Top speed is about 171-172 mph at 9,000 rpm in 6th gear in the MY's 00-03. Of course these fabulous machines do not have the power to max out the top gear, there are ways to achieve more speed.

For example, Jim pointed out that the front of the S creates turbulent air which causes drag. There are ways to clean this up but you would have to pm Jim.

Jim also mentioned that if you were to install a plate(s) on the bottom front half of the car, the drag would be so reduced that you would gain 10 mph on your top speed.

If you were to do aerodynamic mods in combination with adding power to the engine (supercharge), I don't see why you couldn't go 170 mph (just a hair below redline)

All this sounds nice, as I would also love to go faster, but it costs MONEY. I am just working to pay off the S2k, then after that, who knows.

As far as top speed goes, I am not to concerned about going 170 mph as the type of race track I would run at would allow me to run about maybe 130 mph with a heavily modified S2K. I am more concerned about acceleration from 35mph to 125mph.

More stability on the Autobahn would be nice. Anything beyond around 220kmh you really have to concentrate.

I wonder if the Honda front aero dam does anything to add stability at these speeds.

Peak theoretical speed (not indicated) in a stock S2000 with OEM tires is 165 MPH. However, you would have to have significantly more power near redline to get there. I would think that an SC'ed S2000 would be able to get there, expecially if it had a hard top.
