start up noise

Think I'm going to see if I can get this taken care of through the extended warranty I have.

same issue here, my car makes the dreaded starter noise when it's cold out as well..sounds like a horrible metal squealing that only lasts a second or two

everyone I get this same noise too. I have 86K and have had this noise since i bought it with 40K. I've never replaced the starter. so it grinds a lil, no biggy. only happens in the winter. i'll replace the starter when it dies. don't need to change battery if the car starts up fine. if it turns over slowly then replace the battery. or when you notice that the car takes along time to start.

hariku if you replaced the starter you would just get an oem one. Its just an electric motor that cranks the engine initially then gets out the way. If you guys have warranty's then def go take it to dealer.

Got the same thing this year when the temps dropped. The car has 40k.
