Default Starter motor?

took the car for the geo to be done, go out and test the car and all fine. Go to start up the car to come home and zilch!

key in ignition, all the lights on as usual, press the button and not even a little sound! No sound at all.

Could it be the starter motor thats gone or something else? Have a Mugen ecu so that disables the immobiliser I believe.

What's "the geo" -- some gov't test/inspection? Did they do anything with any of the ignition components (starter, coil packs, harness, plugs)?

If your not hearing ANYTHING from the starter at all my guess would be something wrong with the engine start button. Possibly a fuse or relay not to certain but if your hearing a clicking noise from the starter its probably the starter solenoid. I'd go ahead and replace the whole starter if your going to do the solenoid though since its attached to it and getting the starter out of our car isn't very easy.

When I replaced my starter at Honda, they installed a re-manufactured/rebuilt starter. A new starter was way too expensive. NAPA also has rebuilt starters that are probably just as good as Honda's for about $100 less. I learned this too late though.

If there is no noise when you try to start your car, then the starter is bad. If you hear clicking, then the starter contacts are going bad. I would replace the whole thing if you have to go in there for either scenario.
