Default Starting Problem..

Hey guys..

It's basically winter here and I thought I would just bring the car out of hibernation one last time being it was above 40*.. She wasn't perfectly clean so I figured I'd top off the tank and get her washed n waxed.. (I usually do it at home but the damn water is off)

So I bring it to the XXXXXX local car wash, goes through fine, A GUY hops in and burns first a bit (this was expected, no big deal I guess.) He was finishing up the inside and drying off w/e the machine missed while the car was running. I was about 50 feet away and in between checking out the other cars I glance back at mine and notice hes tapping the engine start button.. I start running over there and before I could get his attention he had pressed the clutch in and the starter made a NICE crunch/grind.. I flipped out on him and his manager, they gave me a few free washes which i plan on NEVER using..

So then I drive to work.. Car sits for about 6 hours or so.. I get in, hold the start button and I hear that same sound........ It happens on every cold start now..

It happens at the end of the start cycle.. You think honda will fix, or am I ****ed?

Well Honda's not gonna help because it's on '03 so you're out of warrenty unless you have some kind of extended policy. But even then it'll be hard to get a company to cover something that occured due to missuse. You may be able to get honda to help 'Goodwill' the repair depending on what you're mileage is, coming from someone that works at a honda service dept. DON'T flip out on the guys at the service dept because they'll be a lot less motivated to do whatever they can to assist you.

I have an extended honda care bumper to bumper warranty..

I'm usually pretty good at keeping my cool.. I've been to the honda service department a few times over here and very rarely leave happy.

Just an example.. They are supposed to wash my car before they give it back.. 2 out of the 3 times they had excuses as to why they couldn't do it.. It's not that big of a deal just their mentality..
