Steering is sticky/doesn't fully center after accident and two alignments
Hello everyone,
The suspension on the passenger side had to be fully replaced in this accident. It wasn't a head on collision, it hit the fender, right bumper, headlight, bracket and suspension only. The wheel and tire was hanging off the car after the accident. Subframe alignment was measured and found to be perfect.
Driving behavior is this, feels 95 percent normal, but 11 o clock and 1 o clock doesn't always return to center, especially at slower speeds. The steering also feels "sticky" like I have to correct the position after a turn manually, or if I am driving straight and make very slight movements the car gets stuck in that direction until I move it. Haven't done neutral position reset, because a code was found that I need to show the body shop and we didn't want to clear it yet. The code said DTC 4: Upper FET (motor drive transistor) stuck On. What exactly does this mean? I can't find any examples about it online for anyone that has experienced this.

You going thru the trouble shooting steps in the Service manual starting on Page 17-30? Loose wire and shorts are common when this happens (which isn't often).

I am not doing the work, I am taking it back to the body shop and will give them the DTC 4 page on the Honda manual just in case they don't have it. Wonder if this wire got disconnected or damaged during the accident, or when they put things back together, something went wrong. I knew something was up, this code proves it. Just hope this is the entirety of the problem and my rack isn't actually damaged.

So I got the car back, the mechanic seems to think this issue happened when the car was reassembled, that maybe the car was turned on or the wiring disconnected/plugged in at a sequence that threw a code 4 DTC. He tested connections and found there to be no active issues. He reset the EPS / neutral and the steering feels a lot better if not completely normal and the DTC is gone. The only way to know for sure is drive another S2000 and let someone drive mine. He seems to think it feels normal lol. It was half a year since the last time i drove it so I really don't remember if it feels the same or not at this point. I need to check in a couple days to see if the DTC returns...
