Default Stock Alarm

Guys

Ive noticed that the ultrasonic alarm sensors dont work when the roof is down, even if you put your arms in the car. Its like they are deactivated...

Anyone know how to activate them / make them more sensitive?

Thanks

I think the S2K security system detects breaking glass, shock and possibly motion. I don't think that it is ultrasonic.

Mine does detect motion (standard alarm) when the top is down, but you will have to put your arm in as far as the lower part of the seat before it triggers. I dont know where the sensors are, but I presume they are in the leg compartment somewhere

To my knowledge the stock alarm does not contain an ultrasonic (proximity) sensor. It does however have a glass break sensor based off of a microphone pickup. Look at the install picks from handa for more details. If in doubt rtfm (read the manual)

You can add both shock and proximity sensors to the stock alarm. So far I've only added the shock sensor and it works perfectly. I am going to be doing the proximity sensor as soon as I get time. They both have little knobs to adjust how sensitive they are. All you have to do is connect the trigger wire of the sensor to the hood pin trigger wire on the stock alarm (it's not being used unless you have the optional hood pin switch added to your OEM alarm). You can add multiple sensors to that one wire by putting a 1N4004 diode in-line with each lead.

You can find these sensors on ebay or on the net for way-below retail. I found my shock sensor on ebay for 15 bucks, retail is like 50. The proximity sensor retails for 70-80 but you can find it cheap if you look around. Try to stick with DEI, they make the big name alarm systems like Viper and Clifford.
