Default Sudden Notchy Shifting

Hey guys just trying to troubleshoot what the issue may be:

Over a 3-4 day span my shifter went from fine to noticeably not good. It has times where it is hard to get in gear (no gears in particular/ random) and also as an extreme example it took me like 5 tries to get it into reverse today. there is at least some notchiness about 20-25% of the time. the rest of the time it still shifts completely fine.

I would assume it isnt a rusted spline in the clutch because that would seem like a gradual thing. clutch fluid was replaced probably a year ago. Its dark out so ill check fluid when i have a chance in a day or two. But again these are things that i would assume would make it hard to shift all the time not just random gears some of the time.

Any other items to check in particular?

Thanks much

Try changing your tranny fluid.

If it just happened out of the blue I would check your clutch fluid and check for leaks around the clutch master cylinder. When my clutch fluid was leaking it was notchy getting into first and reverse and shifting from first to second.

In addition, I have I replace my transmission fluid every year or my shifter gets notchy as well. The manual says every 120,000 miles but that's just crazy. I get 12k out of my fluid before wears. I would try changing the fliud. It's only about 18$ if you diy.

What is the mileage on your car.

Does it get better after driving for a while.

Perhaps you should consider re-greasing your shifter assembly.

thanks for all the input guys. car just hit the 100k mark a few weeks back.

shifter basically quit on me thankfully i was in a parking lot. fluid was low. i put some in and pumped a few times and brought it back. upon inspection it appears I've got a leak at the master cylinder.

Thanks again guys. Mods feel free to delete thread.
