Supercharger Problems Please Help
You guys are forgetting that there are two main types of superchargers: screw type and centrifugal. Centrifugal (Vortech and Comptech) superchargers are the only ones on the market for the S2000 right now. They build boost as RPM increases, whereas roots/screw type SCs hit full boost at a low RPM and maintain that through redline. Centrifugal units help top-end, screw type helps low-end.
Just my opinion of SCs for S2000s...they are a waste of money. There is no need to drive a car to figure out that an improvement of half a second and ~5-6 MPH in the 1/4 is a waste for upwards of $5K. Sure your car will pull 5-6 lenghts on a stock S2000, but it's still a mid-13 @ 105-106 car. One can argue that the S2000 is not a drag racer. Duh...I know that. But mid-13s @ 106 is still not very impressive, especially when you take into account that $5K+ was spent on a supercharger. Kinda embarrassing if you ask me.
Turbo is the way to go. No bullshit about waiting for redline to hit full boost. No parasitic losses. Significantly more low-end. Significantly faster.

First off, don't compare my times to the the value of the S/C... There's
a huge missing variable. ME! I'm NO expert driver.
Second, I agree with you that the S2000 is not a drag car , Having to
start from a standing still start.
Third, do you even know what if feels like in a car that will go 13.5 1/4
vers 14? Just the .5 seconds? Do you?

Perhaps people don't buy their superchargers just to run the 1/4 mile? Hmm... They don't live their life a 1/4 mile at a time? How is that possible?????
S2K = teh suck in 1/4 mile. (By suck i mean faster than 99% of all the cars sold last year)
I'm sure every time they lay into the gas at nearly any speed above 20mph they think it's worth the money. It's probably better under 20mph too! I mean I'd get excited anticipating all that boost coming.
5-6mph trap time is huge btw if your a 1/4 mile guy.

Let's say you launch a stock S2000 at X RPM and run a 14.1. Launching an SC S2000 at the same X RPM will produce a 13.1. The problem is that the power of the launch is too much for a stock rearend and clutch. Anyone who knows anything about drag racing knows that 5-6 car-lengths on a 20-110 MPH highway run is equivalent to 1 second in the 1/4, not half a second.
It doesn't bother me if people thing the SC doesn't make a big difference, the more stock S2000s there are out there the cooler mine is. And I'll leave that guy behind when I see him on the street.
