i would think they would also retard the timing, aftermarket ecu's allow for this feature , and there is no reason why honda would not also do the same, atleast they shoudl have

Think about it. Why would the ECU cut (or reduce) fuel without also cutting the spark? Retarding timing wouldn't be a very effective rev limitter.

Oh, we're in full agreement on that point, if rpm's is all we're talking about. But the conversation started with an inquiry on what kind of damage may or may not be done if the engine is left on the rev limiter for a time that longer than considered normal.

Either way, it's going to be hard on something!
