Default Symptoms of A Bad Propeller Shaft

I've noticed some light grease stains in the tranny tunnel area, it is in line with the front propeller shaft C/V joint mount. I'm curious how you know if your propeller shaft C/V is bad ?, can you feel added vibration or noise ?. Should I plan on dismantling the prop. shaft or just look for a replacement ?. The amount of grease seems light at this point. Thanks for any replies.

Mine has had a pretty good buildup there for a long time. Maybe 50k+ miles. I've been waiting to see if any symptoms develop, but it's been fine.

Thanks for the reply, that is good to know, mine is very light, maybe I can get some more life out of it then if yours has been fine for that long. Thanks for the info.

While I had the clutch out I did a new PP, disc, release bearing and guide as well as resurface the flywheel.

I got a 2007 drive shaft with 21K miles on it and a 90-day guarantee from a salvage yard on www.car-part.com for $210 shipped to my house. It's working beautifully.
Thanks for the info Hecash, I'll keep an eye out for vibrations, I may try to find a good used piece for the future.
