TEIN EDFC
Hey everyone-
I was not sure where to post this, as there is no suspension specific forum.
I just noticed yesterday that the front channel of my EDFC box is reading "EL". The rear is reading the appropriate "8" setting. The pre-set buttons flash red. I cannot adjust even the rear setting once the error is displayed.
I did a bit of research, and the "EL" code apparently is telling me there is something wrong with the front left motor (or its signal). I verified the connections between the EDFC motor pigtail and the wiring harness that runs to the EDFC box. Connections appear good (on both left and right front motors / wiring).
Here is the only thing I could find on a google search for the error... This guy had an "EE" error (which is both front's are messed up, not one). His issue was not enough power coming from his power connection. My power connection is fine, as I have been using the system no problem for 6+ months now.

I am going to reset the EDFC box with a power-cycle, to see if that clears the error.
If not, any suggestions on what / where to check to clear this error? I have a multi-meter, and am pretty good at electronics....
Thanks in advance!
John
ps - Mods, if you think this would be better served in another forum, feel free to re-locate. Please let me know where it moves, if you decide to move it. Cheers!

could just make sure that the power connections to the source are perfect, maybe try and trace any chafing of the wires, both power to the unit and also from the edfc to the motor on top of the strut.
after that could take the motor off the strut and check that the strut's damping nut is able to turn freely, if not this could be causing the motor to be trying to draw too many amps, which the edfc cannot supply. (this could be the case for throwing up the EL code). Also checking the motor off of the strut to make sure it isn't that motor that's buggered...
couple things to try...
