Do you get heat into the interior?
Does the engine go into VTEC above ~ 6000 rpm?
Does the engine rev above 6000 rpm at all?

As far as I know an OBDII reader will show what the ECU detects, not what the cluster will display (if there is a difference between them).

I'm sorry to bump this thread but I'm having the same problem.

To all the questions you just asked, my answer is yes to all of them.

And what about connecting an OBDII scanner?
What engine coolant temp did it detect?
It also detects (mine does) air intake temp.
Something to compare it with.

i’m having this problem where my car does not go above 6000 RPMs and I am not getting more than two bars on the temperature gage do you have an idea what it could be? I’ve been trying to figure this out for weeks but I am no mechanic and I’ve researched everything I can I didnt want to take it to the Honda shop by me because they are scam artists

Any recent work, (replacing coolant or anything else)?

Is the check engine light on, and if so, have you pulled the codes?

VTEC will not engage if the temp is not high enough. Should still rev higher but will not go into VTEC.

No check engine light but I did go ahead and scan it it and it was throwing a p0411 code.
Also my car usually doesn’t get above 2 bars on my temp gauge no matter how long it’s warmed up. I’ve let it warm up for 15+ min and the only way it usually reaches 3 bars is when I drive it for a while.

That almost sounds like a stuck open thermostat. p0411 is for the air pump? Have you checked your vacuum lines?
