If I do not have a CEL (spark plug fouler extension), and no one was to look underneath will it pass?

 

It depends on your state's inspection requirements. If a visual is required, you'll fail.

 

without the visual part...if it appears to be a cat... has the heat shields over it....just questioning everything else minus the visual

 

If they look close, you can tell it's not a convertor. Emmisions laws and enforcement vary so much between states there is no telling, you could run into the inspector that goes over every detail or the guy that just fills out the paperwork and doesn't actually check anything.

 

here they hook it up....and at the most they use a mirror with a long handle so they don't even have to bend over

 

Im in MD and i'm going for mine tomorrow with a test pipe so i'll let u know if it passes. They don't do visual inspection here.

Please do. I have been wondering this as well as my smog test for registration will be coming up soon. They dont do any type of visual inspection. Just hook it up and youre done. I have no CEL either and hope that I wont have to change my test pipe back. I guess I will try it and if i fail I will just put the cat back in. Thanks for asking this Tim!

i don't think yoiu'll pass smog if you have a test pipe....

 

as for you... if your car is low enough and won't get over the rollers they'll pass you..
