I have been looking at getting a test pipe, the question is does anyone know what kind of gains one gets from pulling the cat. Is it a noticable gain, how about the smell? Do you get it in the cab with the top down. On my turbo RX7 it really stinked when i opened the sunroof. Just want to see if it is worth the effort to get a test pipe on a NA s2000?

Thanks for any feedback

I love this post- from silvetone Monster's quick cash fix to Lovetodrive's safe #4 we get the whole spectrum. Thank God this bullshit hasn't yet reached Indiana, but It's just a matter of time .

Take it from someone who's been inspecting cars since I was riding a bicycle to work to do so

If someone tried to bribe me, I'd nit pick the crap out of the car.

In NY we have a visual for the cat. The sheilded test pipe is a new thing, and I honestly would have been fooled by it. Only because I'm not looking for a covered cat in particular, but more safety issues like a front end that's falling apart or bad brakes.

I've seen the T1R with the cover and it's very convincing. Most guys who inspect the car will prolly overlook it.

So....if it's an OBDII test, you'll likely pass. Even an idle test with a tailpipe sniffer, I'd think you would pass as the s2k is a newer FI car and burns clean.

There is always the law to consider too. If the guy really wanted to be a d!@k (like if you tried to bribe him) He could try to report you. Fine in NY is many thousands of dollars. But I'm not sure who really enforces it.
