Is there a correct way to lower a S2000.

If you want to lower it properly, bug RYANE MOTORSPORTS to make a kit for the S. I have been bugging them for over a year now...

www.ryanemotorsports.com

Their GS-R kit is AMAZING. 2" drop while retaining STOCK GEOMETRY.

Peace.

NM - it appears that they don't exist any more. Do a search for RYANE MOTORSPORTS on Yahoo and you'll see some pages of their products, maybe they got bought up by another company.

Peace.

They did get bought out. I forgot who by though. Ryane also makes some cool brake upgrades. I'm thinking Precision Braking Systems or something like that bought them out. I'm only guessing though.

Two results will occur when running the dampers below the recommended rebound/bump valving.
1. The car will begin to 'pogo', especially on rough freeways at speed due to the damper's orifice being so large that the spring rate of the spring overwhelms the damper's ability to dampen bounce. This is why the upper 16-positions are referred to as the effective range of the dampers.
2. Although unlikely, I could see how it would be foreseeable that the damper could be damaged from impact upon bounce if the maximum travel of the damper is exceeded.

BTW, to explain how the valving is different between the three lines of TEIN setups for S2000:

In my opinion, the TEIN suspension has the best valving adjustment knob available on the market for S2000. The TEIN Type-CS and Ra offer 16 effective adjustment and the Type-RS offers 16 x 16 levels of effective adjustment.

Type-CS & RA:
Both of the dampers in these kits use one knob to adjust both bump and rebound. A knob on the top of the shock adjusts the piston's needle which changes the profile of both the bump and rebound orifices. Since once knob is used, you can not adjust bump and rebound separately. Not to worry though, rebound is the important valve setting, and bump is adjusted proportionately to the adjustment made to rebound.

Type-RS:
This is TEIN's suspension kit for the track professional. While not much stiffer than the Type-RA kit, it offers significant more adjustment abilities including the ability to adjust bump and rebound separately. While this is a nice feature, it requires expert experience to know how to optimize handling. Techs with this knowledge are rare and expensive. For this reason, I recommend the Type-RA for most customers.

Best regards,
-- Chris

The weight difference will be very minimal. I'd expect that the RS would be slightly more heavy due to the external fluid resevoir. Maybe 2-3 extra pounds per corner?

2- 3 punds a corner? thats not a lot? thats a lot of unsprung weight if you ask me. both the RA and the RS are made from the same aluminum then? i want the lightest set up possible. thanx

ps . both also include the upper pillow mounts right?
