Oh yeah forgot to say my gear grimlin started out as me thinking it was driver error so i compensated for it. But later I knew something was not right. I remember the first dealer trip and the car would not repeat the action the whole day. I even drove it to try and make it happen, so i took her home with no results. Then the next day it started all over again. So if you have it or think you have it take it in. print this page out so you can at least show the dealer you are not crazy and can't drive. Bottom line is the shifting problems and gear grinding are not normal unless it is your first time driving a stick or you are still learning.

Depending on how often and violent the grinds are, the damage to your synchros may already be done - regardless of the cause. This will call for a rebuild.
If it's happened only a handful of times and the grind was not that severe in each case - relatively speaking - it may be a case of a querky 3rd gear synchro that may be fixed by switching to Redline MTF (newer car) or MT90 (older car). If you're already using Redline ... it's definetely your 3rd gear synchro ... either way, talk to your service mgr and tell him you have a mountain of evidence from this site that points to the 3rd gear synchro ... and they need to rebuild or replace your transmission (Honda will opt to have the transmission rebuilt to save some money - the only car they do that in). For note: If you have another fluid in there other than Honda MTL, they might try to blame the fluid.

Therefore, use other fluids at your own risk. Honda would have to prove the fluid caused the failure in order to deny your warranty though.

Hello All
Well I got my girl back from the dealer and i am happy to report no more grind. The shifts are smooth like it is supposed to be. So if you are having the same problem as I then this may be your problem. They replace the Third gear Syncro. By the way if you didn't know there is a spark plug recall. What they do is replace your old plugs with new ones and the new plugs get a new tourqe setting.
I hope this helps someone.

Hey as long as you didn't void your warrenty by like taking the engine out or something like that you should be fine. Worse thing is they could give you crap but at least you will know if they are going to fix it or not. besides some dealers sell brand new cars with mods on them any way. just take it in.
