Default Throttle cable grinding on the inside of the hose!

Hey guys, just got my first s2000 24 hours ago, and found that there was some slack in the throttle. I asked my buddy who's kinda a honda guru to tighten it up a little but what ended up happening is that when I depress the throttle, you can feel and hear the texture of the cable on the inside of the hose that protects it. We're both baffled how a tiny adjustment causes this to happen. I'm pretty bummed about this since it's my first car, and it's not exactly a characteristic of a "clean" or "mint" car.

He thinks it's a defective cable, and that a new OEM one should do the trick. Should I just get some lube and lube it up or will that really even do anything?

Please help! Thank you!

Not really something you want to screw around with trying to repair. Do yourself (and possibly innocent bystanders) a favor and just buy a new one.
