Default thump....

Most of you have probably heard or read about the thump you get when you bump the car into 1st gear too quickly etc etc......When im shifting into 2nd or 3rd, at around 4-6k rpms, if I shift quickly, I feel like this is happening, but im not 100 percent sure thats what it is as it could be bumps in the road etc etc.....I have 40k miles and I tried out a couple people's with around 15-20kmi and theirs didnt do it, has anyone experienced this?

I'm tending to believe that as your car's syncros begin to age (time and mileage), they may not work as well as when they were new. It then becomes more important for the revs to be matched at the moment the next gear is selected. We've always known how important this is when downshifting, but you have first experience with how important it is when upshifting. I don't think this clunk (or extreme notchiness) is a sign that you need new syncros and I'm sure your tranny will continue to operate without issue for some time. And certainly you shouldn't get overly concerned about it unless you get to the point where you are grinding every gear change or having difficulty getting into gear.
A change of fluid is never a bad idea. It won't hurt and it might make a noticeable different.

Ichanged the fluid out some time ago with honda MTF and it seemed to make the shifting smoother.....Smooth was never really a factor as it does shift quite smooth (Not as smooth as when it had lower mileage) but if I am on an upshift, if I wait longer and shift slower it seems like it doesnt do this, its when I go from WOT around 4-6k rpms and try and shift quickly is when it appears to happen....

I am going to guess that by going WOT and then shifting at such low rpms, that you stand a much better chance of hanging the rpms up by even the slightest bit of poor clutch-throttle-shifter syncronization, thus resulting in a mis-match of revs at the instant of gear engagement - hence the clunk you describe. I don't think there is anything wrong mechanically.
