Sup guys well ive had a ticking/rattling sound for a while that has gotten worse, at first i thought it was the timing chain tensioner but it wasnt. We put it on the lift at my mech. shop which is a family friend. I rev to replicate the sound while on the lift. He says it sounds like its coming from between the back of the motor and the transmission. He then asked me if the motor had solid lifters or not becuase he said that could possibly be it but he doesnt know this motor that well, more of a toyota guy. The sound is coming from there and it eminates through the dash and i can hear it from inside the car. Still trying to find the problem.

 

Good luck on your diagnosis. I am also having engine problems so I'm very sensitive to the topic right now. Check your spark plugs...make sure they are tight and try to locate the sound...could it be coming from your #3 or #4 cylinders?

 

^^^not sure..if it is wut could that mean. I dont really know wut it could be because the motor in the car probly has about 5k miles on it.

 

Most common "ticking" or "tapping" would be valve lash out of adjustment.
