And Type II is recommonded.
Not for model year 2000, UNLESS the whole system has been thoroughly flushed out before putting in Type II.

now I'm doing it at one year..
Not really necessary to do it every year. I believe when Honda stipulated every 2 years thereafter, they were already being conservative and "on the safe side". Personally, I flushed mine out really well and switched to an aluminum compatable "long life" coolant at 3 years. This should hold me for 5 years at a time.

Oh, if you guys with older cars haven't done so, you might be well advised to put in a new thermostat, too.

I have read;
Type I = Green
Type II (Factory fill) = Green
Type II (off the shelf) = Blue
I have a couple jugs of Type II, but haven't opened them yet so I don't know if it is blue or green.
You can't really tell much by color. Manufacturers put in dye to make their mix distinctive but there is no standard and any mixing will change it anyway.

It is recommended that you either stick with a consistent known coolant for top off and changes or flush the system to switch to a different one. If you must add liquid to an unknown mix, distilled water can be used but remember it is diluting the anti-freeze and anti-corrosion capabilities.

yes I know, but I have been changing out all the fluids systematically since I purchased the car so I know the exact interval and what exactly is in there.
