Default Tranny help

Ill cut to the chase.
Ive got a 2001 s2k, and it still has the stock clutch that has the incredibly loud buzzing sound... i tryed to take it in to the dealer shop to get fixed, and found the honda service bulletin relating to the problem. They called me and told me there simply was no problem, and that it was normal.
Ya its normal...Clearance between transmission gears (backlash) is
normal and sometimes audible. In an S2000, this noise
is more noticeable since the transmission is between
the seats instead of up front in the engine
compartment. When the vehicle decelerates, its
weight, together with the pulses from the engine,
excites the transmission gears, causing them to buzz
or rattle.
so there is a solution, and most have found it. well, i want it..
in addition to not fixing that, they also returned me a vehicle that wouldnt go into 5th.
Does anyone have any experience with this, that is in the so cal area?? i cant afford $1100 just for them to take the tranny off and diagnose.

You car isn't under warranty, they are not required to perform any TSB repairs to it. You need to contact Honda's customer service # to plead your case why you should get a free clutch to fix the buzzing.

As far as not going into 5th, do you skip shift? That's the biggest cause of 5th gear synchro damage.

As an aside:

Have you tried rowing through the gears with the engine off? If you can get into 5th with the engine off and the clutch pedal up that would be a first diagnostic in determining your transmission's health.
