Default Trans Issue..

Ok.. Here is a strange issue that I am having and I am curious if anyone else has had this problem. When I am in Vtec, and shift from 2nd to 3rd, the gear grinds for a second (feels like something blocking it from going into gear). It lets me into 3rd but grinds quickly going in. Yes the clutch is to the floor and yes I know how to shift. It is only 3rd gear and nothing else. At first, I thought that the clutch was going but now I am not so sure. I do autocross the car but to be that honest, I am not THAT hard on it. Any help would be great.

I have the same problem I am still working the issue with redline MT-90 gear lube and clutch adjustments. Keep posting if you find another fix.

Yeah, let me know. I am wondering if it is a syncro issue. I hope not.. Not looking forward to that if it is since I have to drop the trans to do it..
I know you probably know the difference, but is it a full on grind or just notchiness? Do you hear anything when it happens?

Yeah, it is a full grind. It sounds horrible but just for a second. It feels like the clutch isn't engaged all the way and I try to slam it into gear. It doesn't feel the same as the 1/2 notch that I had originally. I got the clutch, pressure plate and flywheel replaced around 10k miles. I just rolled over to 30k this week (been driving like crazy the last 2 years.) I am going to take it to my local mechanic to have him drive it to see what he thinks. I doubt it is a clutch issue but if it is, I guess it is time for a good aftermarket one. haha

oops the syncro is probably the cause of that. One things with this car is that you must press the clutch fully every time you change gear due to the high revving of the engine. If you fail to do so this is the result after many many gear changes. However changing the syncro is not so difficult bearing in mind that in my previous car BMW M3 it was not possible! I bought new gearbox!

Mine is a full third gear grind as well and i had honda drive it the mechanic said i need a new third gear third gear syncros and third gear shift fork.
1500 $$$$ i wish i knew how to do it myself. I am pretty good with mechanics but jackstands and my garage just does not sound like it would be fun. Anyone ever drop the tranny and open her up? is it very difficult or any special tools.
PLEASE HELP i hate the grind makes me cringe!!!!!

I agree, that grind is horrible. I would take it to my local Honda if they were good.. I fear that they would screw things up pretty bad since they have done bad things to my car in the past. Anyway, I will take the car down to a shop on Monday and see what they think. I wonder how many other people have had this happen to them.
