Default transmission issue

So I'm still having an issue with my ap1 tranmisson. I have tried honda oem fluid and GM yellow bottle. My 3rd and 4th gears are hard to engage after hwy driving. Only for a short time once im off the hwy. Coming out of 4th gear seems like it does not find neutral unless I play with it for a min. But all of this is only after sometime at hwy speeds. They work very well for city driving and no issues with high rpm shifts. All other gears are fine and nothing grinds. Any ideas?

My '00 transmission was always a problem and some of the symptoms were similar as highway driving would get it hot and it was balky until cooled; on mine it would grind on every shift to 2nd until fully cooled. I fount that Redline MT90 (or similar) heavier fluid helped some but was also a little stiff when cold. I eventually solved my problem by getting a transmission from an '02 that works great; in fact it is better than the one that came with my car brand new.

Sorry, I don't think there is an easy fix on these early transmissions and that is one reason why the demand for used AP2 boxes stays high.

Im guessing that would be my best bet to get the problem fixed would be an ap2 tranmission. I know this transmission has been opened up by the previous owner but I have no idea what what done to it. Could be new stuff could be a cheap tranmisson job. That and the issue I have that only affects 3rd and 4th kinda stumps me. Just wondering what would actually cause this issue.

Most likely assembly error or bad parts. Have you tried greasing the shifter with high temp urea grease? Idk if that will solve it...but simple stuff is best to try first.

Thats what I was afraid of. But what inside the transmission would cause this? How is 3rd and 4th gear connected but no other gears are affected? I did grease the shifter. Made it feel better! But did not fix the issue.

I can do extended high RPMs in 3rd and 4th as well with no issues. Just extended time in 6th gear at hwy speeds seems to cause this.

Well a new CMC did not fix my issue. I didn't think it would but it had a small leak. So that's something off the list. Anyone? ???

New honda oem transmission fluid made the gears harder to shift into after hwy driving.
