Default transmission problem

My shift lever is so free that I have difficulty find 5 and 6 gear. It has large clearence. There is no guide track.
I own my honda shortly. I would like to know the cause and if it's repairable or must buy the entire transmission.
Thanks

Take off your center console. Remove the shift and inspect everything. You said it is only 5th and 6th, or is the entire shifter very easy to move around? Year car do you have? Miles?

yes, the entire shifter is easy to move around .
3 and 4, there is not problem to find because it is straight forward or backward. 1 and 2 also no problem, because I can not move more on side ( no space there), so I always take right gear, but I have use more power on my hand for moving unlike on other Honda, which I tried before. However for 5.th gear- I often take 3 or move too muche on side so I can not move more forward for 5. For 6 th gear is the same, I get 4 or (if move too muche on side) I listen buzzing sound from transmission ( without releasing the clutch).
For reverse I need use more power to get it.
It seems that I have two options, change transmission or learn to shift right way. In others honda I had not problem to find right gear.
yes, the entire shifter is easy to move around .

I have found cause of faults . The plastic cover at the end of the shift lever was dropped. Transmission house was full of water.
