Yes, I have to agree on the impact. I have never tried to remove one with an impact.

I don't have an impact so I had a friend hold a flat head screwdriver in between a tooth of the flywheel and the starter housing. Same when I torqued them down.

I bought a Dewalt cordless. I used it for stuff like this and swapping tires at the track. So far it was the best 150 I have spent for a tool. I even bought it from an e-bay dealer

Here's an affordable tool you can use to hold the flywheel while tightening the flywheel and pressure plate bolts if you're working by yourself.

I watched a guy do one recently and all he did was put a socket and bar on the front of the crank and I think the cross member kept it from moving... he then tightened the bolts without problem.
