update... you guys are awesome!!! Much thanks to everyone that posted info here... I pulled the tranny last night and it was just as many of you thought! I checked the things you posted and it was the upper starter bolt that needed to be removed... once i pulled that bolt i was able to slide the tranny off with no issues whatsoever! excellent info saved me alot of messing around!

Anyone ever do a synchro in an S2000. My 1-2 grinds every once in awhile and it could be a problem after this autox season. I have taken down and put back together a couple manuals but just wondering how hard this one is?

Wow, I'm on the same step right now! The transmission is on a jack stand right now waiting for me to pull it out. I didn't have too much of a problem with the starter bolt, it was just a PITA to find it (putting it in is going to not be fun either). This is a big job! (had to remove entire S/C unit too) Well, time to get back at it!

Wish me luck!

When you are ready to install the transmission place the extensions and socket on the top starter bolt so it is in place prior to raising the tranny. It really makes the whole process much easier.

When i swapped my clutch i didnt take the upper starter bolt out all the way. I backed it out enough and left it resting inside.. that saved alot of time as well.

SAME... I left the bolt there for easy re-installation!
