so i've been having this weird issue where the trunk only opens sometimes with the keyfob or the release button in the glovebox. i can hear the latch going off but it remains locked . after pressing the button a few more times it finally opened up. second time it happened to me now. i'm in the south so don't think temperature is an issue. maybe i need to shin etsu the seals or something. any ideas?

 

bump. happened again today in the poruing rain ran to open the trunk to put the groceries but wouldn't open and got drenched!

 

Clean off old grease and relubricate the latch mechanism with some lithium grease.

I have a similar problem. Ill pull up at home or where ever and randomly I hear a pop like the boot has opened it's self. On inspection the boots still firmly shut. Don't know what's causing it as it hasn't annoyed me enough for me to crawl through the boot in persuit of it
