Default uh oh...

i was at 70... shifted 3 -> 2.... any major damage?... i drove for a little bit after and the engine seemed to be running as smooth as it ever did...... i wasnt redlining 3rd... cant believe i made this mistake.. uck

I don't think the damage can be confirmed from what you have said without peeking in the motor. If you were lucky, your clutch slipped and the clutch didn't over-rev your motor. But since you said it still drives, I don't think there's damage to your engine.

oh yea... actually i noticed i put it into 2nd.... as the tach was creeping up to the redline i was trying to process as fast as i can... i saw the red and i was already in the middle of putting it into neutral.... i would say it was in gear for .2 to .3 seconds

Basically checks to make sure you aren't losing excessive air pressure from the cylinder combustion chamber. Each engine produced has numbers specific to it indicating a healthy seal. I believe that the leakdown test tests piston ring seal (or lack thereof) as well as valve seal / valve guide seal (and again, or lack thereof).

Is a leakdown test and compression check synonomous with each other?
