Under hood Carpet?
I dont really know what its called so help me out but its like a formed peice of hard carpet that goes under the hood and fits over the engine to keep everything clean. Anyone know what its called and/or where I can get one?
It's called a hood liner, and it's primary function is to keep the hood from getting too hot and damaging the exterior paint. A side benefit is to help NVH. You will have to get this from an authorized dealer.
Some under hood covers ARE fire blankets. I have read that the one on the S2000 is not.

Its probably for NVH more than anything. The paint on the hood is not in any danger from heat from the engine bay either, unless you get a fire in there. Once it saturates with ambient temps, its not going to shield anything.
As for the fire blanket part, I don't know. Of the few S2000s I've seen catch fire in the engine bay, it certainly didn't seem to work.
Considering its not on the CR, its probably just sound deadening and was deemed unnecessary by Honda for the CR model.
I agree that it's probably for NVH, but I can't imagine that it wouldn't reduce heat transfer to the hood. However, whatever heat transfer it might prevent, it surely less than the amount gained by driving the car instead of letting it bake in the sun.

Helps keep hot air in the engine bay too. I removed mine a long time ago.
