Default unknown wire under hood

Helping a friend look for an S2000. We came across this example today. There's this wire going to a coil?

I don't think mine has it

Any idea what it's for?
Not a good photo but it's the skinny green wire.

looks like the owner may fry one of the wires so he had to add a new wire. what did the seller say about it? and whats tat other big red wire for? as far as i know, there's no aftermarket electronic tat requires to run a wire to coil 3.

the red wire is for the stereo

the green one is to a coil - but why does another wire need to be run?

It might be an extra grounding wire, what is the box that is strapped to the air conditioner pipe ?, is the car running some form of earthing kit ? (extra grounds) . I'd ask the owner if the car runs without the wires installed just to be sure it is something significant and you can remove it.

As darcy said, definitely didnt come that way. Possibly a hacked in ground wire for that coil pack? Which would mean wiring issues... Stay away.

Looks like a tach signal wire for an aftermarket gauge (i would remove it and do it properly)

Or, an open circuit was found during a diagnosis, and someone ran a new wire instead of tracing down the break in the harness.
