PRECISELY why I got an 03. Test driving the 06, it just didn't seem to have the "edge" of earlier models.
Yup, exactly.

I can only speak for the comptech one, ast hat's the one I tried. Not sure if anyone else has tried one, or knows of one that does work.

I didn't have a chance to read through all of this, maybe someone can fill me in on this: what would it take to install a J's intake on the 06? what type of modifications of the lines?

I don't think it would be changes made to the lines, but rather changes made to the intake. You'd have to plug the hole for the primary air pump and for the line from the valve cover I think. Also, there is a sensor that sits halfway through the stock intake tubing that might have to be inserted somewhere in the new intake.

I have been talking to Gerry are PRM since I received my intake. I sent pictures to him and he told me what needs to be done. I still need to send the intake filter canister out for paint. I need to get on it soon so I can get it installed.

What he wants me to do is insert the air temp sensor in the hole that was originally meant for the what you called the Primary air pump hose. I guess this is achieved using a silicone hose that fits inside the hole. the way he explained it sounded really easy and I will post my results soon.
Sounds like a good idea. The only thing I would be concerned about is having enough slack to run that sensor there. Post up in S2000 talk when you do it so everybody can get an idea of what has to be done.

Yeah, I was wondering about the slack too. If it wont reach I will just get the same gauge wire and extend it alittle. that should be easy enough. I believe its only two wires.
