v-tec problem

Default v-tec problem

when i start my car if i try to go past 6krpm the vtec won't kick in it just stops and lags as if i was red lineing, is that normal anybody else have that problem

This question gets asked once every few days. Since I see you've been here only 16 days, I'll tell you and you can tell the next person who asks. This engine will not VTEC until the temp gets up to operating which is 3 bars on the temp guage. It does it so you don't hurt the engine. Once it's warmed up, the oil temp and flow characteristics is such that it will do its job as intended.

Did your dealer say anything about 600 miles before vtec?

ya they told me 700 but i already have 1500 miles on my car so i'm ok i waited till a 1000 to vtec

And yet another conscientious "owner", which BTW, you can change from "enthusiast" if you go to the "edit profile" section and enter your VIN# in the appropriate slot. You'll then be able to post pics to show us your new car.
