Default valve adjustment question

Gonna be starting a valve adjustment right now. I have a feeler gauge that has .20mm, .25mm, and .26mm. will i be ok to do the exhaust side with just the .25 and.26 most diy have a .30 thats used to make sure it doesnt fit at all. Would i be able to just get the .26 kinda tight and go based on that?

Check the clearance before you loosen a lock nut, it might not need adjusting. Make sure you torque the lock nut once you're done adjusting then recheck the clearance after the torquing.

Set them at .008 on the Intakes. .008 should fit snug. tiny force to get it in there. .007 will go in with no drag or feel at all. .009 will take great force or not fit at all. This is called the go-no-go method and is the only way to do it right.

On an untouched s2k, you'll find most of the intakes are at .010 now. Exhausts are likely at .011-.012.

Set exhausts at .010 on exhausts. Same go-no-go method as the intakes.

Make sure engine is room temperature.

use .008 and .010 like Billman listed.

00-05 models had two TDC sensors on the valve cover, one on the top rear near the firewall that sits horizontal, and one on the driver side rear near the firewall that sits vertical.

06+ models only had one TDC sensor.

ok so i finished. I reset the ecu by unplugging the battery and pulling the fuse. after letting the car idle for a while i took it for a drive and its smoking from the exhaust so im assuming i messed something up. What does this mean? Also now i need to call the dealer for a radio code. And i swear my in dash lights like the speedo arent as bright.....

Is it smoking out from the exhaust pipe or you just smell burned oil and see it around the vehicle ?
Maybe you spilled some oil on the exhaust and header during the adjustment and it will burn off. Or maybe you have an oil leak from the valvecover ?. I don't think the adjustment itself would cause exhaust smoke.

The dash brightness is adjustable, it likely got set back to default levels when you pulled the battery cable. You can re-set it back to brighter levels if you like.
