If the smoke is coming from under the hood, its normal. Oil spills on the exhaust when you pull the valve cover.

Smoke out the rear tailpipes is not good as all, but I dont see how you could cause that by doing a VA.

I wouldnt even think about driving the car until you KNOW the valves are right. If they are too tight you will burn them for sure.

This is why I told you get a .009 feeler gauge and make sure it floats with no drag on exhaust side.

.008 .010 and .012 is not the proper way to do the job.

Listen to Billman he knows his stuff. A new set of feeler gauges with the correct sizes isn't going to run you more than 7 or 8 bucks. A very cheap price to pay upfront to avoid having to dump abunch of cash later.

and from what i remember i actually had to loosen the exhaust side a little rather then tighten it because my .010 didnt fit into some of the valves...

For the intake side i had to tighten everyone because they were too loose.

Would i be fine to drive to monday night. I have work in like 2 hours..... Only work 8 miles away

I think you are worrying needlessly, but for peace of mind just check things over again. Regardless of what you do to the valve clearances your tailpipe smoke or condensation matter won't change, idling 15 minutes might not generate enough heat to dry out the exhaust system especially in cool temps, I would drive it for 10 minutes and then return and examine it again.

It does take a bit of experience to adjust to the proper feel when doing the adjustments, chances are you will get a better feel for it the second time. That happened to me, I did it the first time and then I went back and checked them again and made some small adjustments.

Going by what you have told us in your adjustment procedure I doubt you could have messed things up badly enough to cause harm, but you may find one or two clearances that need further adjustment on the second inspection. Good luck with things.

Do you have an aftermarket header ?, I find they make the exhaust valve noise more pronounced as compared to the oem header. Also check your valvetrain noise with the hood closed, if you hear a lot of valve noise with the hood closed then you know something still needs adjustment, with the hood open you do get other noises interfering with the sound like the injectors and things.

With the hood closed it is very quiet. Can't hear anything over the fans... but if I pull next to something on my rightlike another car I can hear a slight ticking. Maybe an exhaust valve or just injectors. Jus got to work and the car drove flawlessly but I never went over 5 k. Gonna wait until Wednesday to do it again because I'm off andwouldnt wanna rush this on Monday night. Thank you guys
