Default VALVE ADJUSTMENT OR TCT?

well this noise is gradually getting alot louder..obviously only when i press on the gas...it only happens when it feels like doing so...sometimes its noticeable and sometimes i just hear the normal noise the engine makes..so pretty much it happens occassioally and i just happened to catch it and got it on video...the video is dark and its pretty much just for sound purpose only...all the experts please help me identify the problem...the car has 150k! i know its alot i love to drive alot especially from texas to cali lol..anyway thanks for the help

ps. i got the car used back in january for pretty much dirt cheap. and i have no idea of when this was replaced..i really think its just the TCT and if it is it will be replaced next week and mostlikely do valve adjustments as well

Sounds like the TCT for sure, You can have your tct almost "redone" if you feel like doing that, If you know anyone that can sand/media blast. You basically take the tct out have the worm gear media blasted and put back in and its as good as new.

you have gangsta mileage on that thing... i'd definitely do a valve adjustment, timing chain tensioner as well as full fluid change (diff, tranny and oil). i had the same sound on mine and it was relieved by changing the TCT... be forewarned it will eventually come back.

good luck!!

thanks guys..yeah gangsta mileage is what i have lol..as you can see this things are bullet proof i never had any problem with it until this came along..but i know its an easy fix..even with 150k this thing pulls pretty good still and is very very clean inside and out..hey i paid dirt cheap for it so not bad right hahaha thanks again..by the way how long does it take to do valve adjustment and what does it do afterwards to the motor? does it get even quieter. sorry im a noob when it comes to F20 and for sure these motors are louder than B series (is what im pretty much more familiar with) anyway thanks for the help

by the way all fluids were done the 2nd day i had the car..and was recently done about 2 months ago...ALL OF IT!

yeah its set to be worked on next week since im going out of state that way my mechanic can take his time on it..so what does valve adjustment really do? does it make the motor smoother with less vibration?

valve adjustment sets the positioning of the valves within specifications, so yes it will be smoother, you will notice more power, but i doubt if any vibration difference could be felt.

Just did my TCT ~ 132k miles. get the worm gear inside the unit sandblasted (even on a new TCT) before installing it. That sound is 99% TCT noise.

Are you getting engine "vibration" under load? like driving over cobblestone? excessive shift lever wobble?

I added axle spacers (you can also swap axle cups) and changed the tranny/motor mounts to remedy those issues respectively.
